I reread "Ender's Game" just a few months ago, so it's fresh in my mind, and the screenplay seems like a very literal translation. I found some comments by Card about that, and apparently the first draft was very different, written from the POV of the adults and Ender was just a "maguffin". Now he's thinking about casting "Jake Lloyd, the young actor best known for playing Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace", and feels like he can carry the role of Ender, so the latest script is back to Ender's POV.
But the date of the comments is April 2000. They'd better get moving if they want to use Lloyd while he can still play a nine-year old.
Googling "'Ender's Game' movie" turned up...whoa! a quarter of a million hits. IMDB estimates a release date in 2008, but status is "preproduction", and no cast is listed.
Can anybody clarify what's up?
