I don;t think the point is that 'collectivist commies' are going to win, its that in the global economic battle places like China and India are willing to evoke the powers of the state to insure that the global economy tilts their way, and this is is seen as 'in service of' the wealthy, whereas the west is not willing to do this.
Its long been my observation that 'globalization' means 'back off and let China and the new power elite have their cake and eat yours too'.
