In the US the government exists to deny rights.
The Conservative political movement has moved the US from being in the position of protecting rights to denying them. The right to privacy, free movement, habeas corpus, representation, the list is almost endless.
The idealistic government you expouse is diametrically opposed to the dictatorial, imperialistic regime you support. And the deeds are more powerful than the words.
Conservative minds blend wonderful fantasy with the opposite reality seamlessly, and without shame. It's a marvel to see it working.
