There you go again

Round and round in circles, stating ideological views as if they were facts and thus proved your ideological views.

All you got is to try and put words in my mouth and call me a thief? I've said before that I think that the question of abortion ought to devolve back to the states, as long as no state that bans it criminalizes women who go to another state where it's legal. In the same vein, I recently wrote that the government ought to get out of the business of licensing a religious ceremony, marriage, and simply register partnership contracts like any other legal document; let churches decide for whom they will and will not perform the religious ceremony. That's two significant examples of my reasoned belief that the government has a constructive role to play in some areas, and should stay out of others.

As for calling me a thief, well, gee, "property is theft", so there.

Which puts me in mind of real estate and the boundless hypocrisy of Conservatives. You've written several times about how carefully you're managing your real estate holdings, and that's commendable. But about 80% of the wealth you're managing was created artificially by property owners using the power of government to create an artificial shortage of housing through restrictive zoning laws...to the distinct detriment of millions of people who came after you and needed a place to live just as much as you did. All they're guilty of is bad timing and being younger...in essence you're using the government to perpetrate a pyramid scam. But that's OK if it puts money in your pocket, right?

It's disingenuous to say that there's a limited supply of "real estate". Sure, surface area on which to build is a finite resource, but housing isn't. We live in a three-dimensional world, and higher-density housing could provide shelter for ten times as many people for the same cost on the same surface area. That's one way that property is theft.

But here's another, based on the pyramid nature of the scam you're running. Let's say that you bought your house for $300,000 ten years ago. The house next door is purchased today for $600,000, same house, same neighborhood, same schools, etc.

Aren't you morally responsible for stealing $300,000 from your neighbor? Yep, property is theft, and that makes you a thief, Tom. To quote you, "If something is immoral if its done by one person, it's immoral done by a group". Even the modern landed gentry.
