Sounds a lot like the "Swift Boat" denials.
"Nope, we're not financing 'em, not us, wouldn't do it. Just a bunch of war heroes who are also concerned citizens with their own agenda. They'd rather see an AWOL pilot as CinC than someone who did their duty with distinction. That's their business. Not ours. We can't help what they do. Talk to them."
Nader does have a good agenda. Besides "green" he recognizes that both Republican and Democratic parties are in thrall to multi-national corporations more than the country. They are the "zig" and the "zag". Only difference, really, is that one of 'em might be more liable to spend money providing health care for an American child and less for killing a foreign child.
