I personally think the war on drugs is more about a war on the Black Market than on "drugs". The government couldn't regulate the market in drugs like cocaine or pot if they tried.

They have a tough time keeping up with bootleggers in kentucky as it is.

Most politicians probably are users themselves who love to take a stance that "protects the children".
