Out here almost ALL houses have wood burning fireplaces because of the desert heat and gas line concerns during 1/2 the year.
What's MORE is they are used to provide heat, for much the same reason - no gas heaters!
Sure, the air gets nasty in winter - like 50 smokers are lighting up all at once within 100 yards of one's home. That said, I can't even imagine them suggesting a ban - all the folks without a working heat pump would be very cold on the nights it gets below freezing.
They want to provide better chimney filters, and a public service that changes them regularly - go ahead introduce the legislation and the means to pay for it.
This just smacks of another "control" another divide and conquer routine designed to interfere in the lives of the masses and bloat the bureaucracy.

- At gunpoint, remember. Came for the bulbs at gunpoint.
- No burn days
- This is why I burn tires at night!
