The experiment has left certain quantum tracks and signatures on the fabric of the Zone, signs that enable a trained observer to glean sufficient clues to how it was done and to possibly reproduce it. It is impressive indeed that it was done without resorting to the cheat of using a wormhole directly into the server. Quite an intricate operation, I'd say, and certainly timing was everything, as of course one would expect when traveling the many-branching corridors of time.
I would add that it is in the nature of an operation like this that we only know of its successes--its failures are hidden from us on abortive branches of the timeline, the myriad dead zones of the many-world hypothetical universe. Let us honor the versions of رجل من وقت who went before on this noble quest and gave their all in the cause of interchronological communication and understanding.
