I made that post quite a while ago. I looked at spending curves and a few other issues, and realized that the Congressional Republicans started going downhill not when a Republican was elected President, but when Gingrich and conservative leadership hit the skids.
You have to keep tighter track of your chronology and events. I had a time traveller from about 5500 AD show up dressed as an "American" in a powdered wig, cowboy chaps, and Nike sneakers.
He wouldn't give me any useful information either, and cited that same "chronology" crap, as though I didn't have a good working knowledge of the Laws of Time.
He forgot that it violates almost no causality laws at all to drop a time traveler from the future off the side of a boat into the Monterey Canyon.
