There is a very powerful underclass developing.
Consider all the people shut out of the American Dream, whose only real opportunities come as drug dealers, whose only fraternal organization, Union, lodge or club is a gang. They go to the slam, come out as more committed.
And they have kids who are similarly affected. A poor education, no real opportunities, etc.
It's coming. There will come a time when the prison system will be an acknowledged failure and the methodical destruction of the middle class will create stresses this society probably can't stand. The remaining middle class can't afford it, and the wealthy will just hire Blackwater and live in gated communities.
