The flight testing of the F-117
I spent some time in Tonopah, NV, a few weeks ago. Apparently the F-117 was flight-tested at an airport not far out of Tonopah, flew overhead a lot and the people who working on it hung out in Tonopah.
That it was no secret to the residents and that they kept the secret is a source of great pride in the area. Local newspapers and bulletins mentioned it and there was a section in a fairly large museum in town.
