re: I didn’t say his question wasn’t legitimate...

only the space board is not the place for that kind of a discussion, which most likely would turn into a heated debate.

Planes are used against planes (cold war) or to dominate the sky.

No, planes Strike fighters) are used for many operations such as surface targets (surgical strikes) and targets such as ships.

But it doesn't seem to work wit guerilla wars and terrorism.

Really, How did the #1 al Qaeda come to his demise? We are still using surgical strike missions to help the Iraqi forces combat terrorism.

Even though the US has achieved air domination in Iraq almost from the start of the war, there is still no peace there.

Politics.

Money could be much better spent in training for Human intelligence.

And when our superior intelligence discovers that Russia is sending Iran their best most advanced jet fighter what do we do? Stop their attacks with the money we saved?

The problem is this (and very simple): the people from an invaded country will ibe smarter than the invador (because they are more motivated) and manage to take the invador to the kind of war they want. I'll always remember Vietnam veterans warning against a guerilla war in Iraq. That's exactly what happened.

More politics.

Russia and China are supplying countries with weapons to countries that want the US destroyed and the US is combating this with deterrence by strength.
