Doesn't sound very hard to me.
Like you said, the low level waste can be dealt with very easily. The cost needed to properly dispose of it is tiny compared our yearly GNP, and the amount of radiation that might escape is dwarfed by the amount of radiation leaked into the environment every year by the coal industry. Going nuclear should be a no brainer.
