Ethanol

turns out to be not such a great idea Tom. Part of the reason for the growing worldwide food crisis is the number of corn fields being turned over to fuel production. The studies I've read have almost all concluded that the environmental harm to the planet caused by making ethanol from corn (not so much from sugar) is greater than just using the oil it would replace.

In addition, because of the profitability increase of corn, more countries are clear cutting forests to create more farm fields which is removing huge carbon sumps.

Best intentions once again gone to profits.
