Interesting idea.

I'd have to give it some thought, but it has possibilities.

I've long thought that we would do just as good a job randomly picking our leaders from a pool of qualified citizens, much like we do for jury duty. The major flaw in the current system is that it selects for power lust, and in recent years, it seems to primarily select for rich, well-connected power lust.

Good Lord, look at the three we've got up for the job now, and tell me you couldn't do at least as well throwing darts at a phone book.

My method has flaws. For one thing, it does little to help with the entrenched, non-elected bureaucracy. Maybe sunset funding laws would help there.

I was thinking about randomly selecting a small group of candidates, and then the election would be held between them, but your idea of picking one and allowing the electorate to give him the boot is not bad either. We'd have to think about the rules since I suspect that otherwise turnover would be huge.

I still like the idea of term limits.
