We have seen that no matter how bad a leader is, no matter how flawed or how completely his programs fail, 30% will follow. I'm sure that goes for either Rs or Ds. In a democracy that is a serious problem, as it's most of the way to being elected again.
The Greeks had it right. Far, far better to have an enlightened dictator than an elected chief executive. That won't happen, of course.
