Similar experience.

I had a homeless man come up to me and ask for bus fair. I looked in my wallet and only had a $20. I gave it to him and he lit up like a Saturn 5. I think I got more out of it than he did.

People in this country shouldn't go hungry or freeze to death. There should be very basic shelters with homeless employees to take care of the place.

There's a mission in Everett not far from where we met. There's always about 50 people under the overpass hanging out with their possessions, waiting for lunch and the complimentary sermon. Everett fenced off the sidewalk in an attempt to get them to leave because of fighting. I was disgusted that they couldn't find a better solution.

Seattle has allowed tent cities to form in designated areas. There's a lot of problems with drugs, litter and assaults. Maybe a community shelter could provide better policing.

Some say that many homeless prefer to live that way. We need a safety net those that don't.
