C'mon, bowser, your tone turned much more humane after I criticized you. It's your initial comments that I found so inhumane, and it seemed you just dug in deeper when you responded to me.
When you say that the homeless "do not take sanitation into consideration", you're clearly saying that they have a choice, that they choose to live like animals.
You're defining the problem as the homeless "folks" themselves, and not the circumstances that have made them homeless. Some are, as you say, "unemployable"...so why aren't they wards of the state? If someone can't take care of themselves, society is obligated to take care of them. And society is failing in its duty toward those who can't take care of themselves.
Don't forget, bowser, that here in San Jose we had the country's largest homeless encampment, "The Jungle". And Silicon Valley in general has a serious homelessness problem, which means that I encounter homeless people a lot. When you walk three miles a day, your path will cross that of a homeless person.
A great many of the homeless, at least here, are economic refugees. Many people have literally been made homeless by eviction and exploding housing costs; they didn't just find themselves homeless one day. A large percentage of the homeless here are the jobless, victims of the Great Recession who never recovered from it.
Most homeless people in America are victims, bowser. They are not volunteers as you clearly imply. Fix the deep flaws in our society that creates the homeless, and you won't have to suffer their stench.
