I'm always nice to every workperson who comes to my home, plumber, electrician, furnace/A/C maintenance, etc. I would almost guarantee that is why these guys take good care of me, making sure they do a good job, charging fair prices and going that little bit extra. I'm 61 so it isn't like I'm a young thing they want to impress. They know I respect them, what they do and the knowledge they have. Anyone who doesn't respect these people are very poor in spirit and have self-esteem issues.
There are too many kinds of prejudice out there, from racial to economic to the glass ceiling women run up against (including Hillary Clinton--the Press's reaction to her was filled with sexism). When I was a young woman, I owned a Credit Reporting agency in a small town (20,000). A guy was interested in me and asked me out and then retracted it when he found out I was self-employed. His loss.
It is a crying shame people have to build themselves up by tearing other people down.
