There's a lot of hype going on right now
I'm watching a number of technologies in transportation, solar, fusion, and other things. I understand that there's a certain amount of hype at the initial stages, but I also know that if the hype has any reality to it, the companies will make more money than they know what to do with, and there's a huge, tech-savvy investment community that knows this.
The idea of fabulous new technologies being "suppressed" or somehow just having the hard luck not to make it into production is largely a myth (there may be exceptions, but not many of them).
If something really works, it'll get out into the market with flags flying. If it doesn't, it won't.
