Most are.

Nocturnal. The sweet hours in the desert are between 1am and 7am when most of the heavy labor, gardening, other chores and exercise gets done!

It's strange to see your neighbors up at godforsaken hours during 1/2 the year when one first arrives and then you understand it and that the whole culture operates with a different time clock than most do in the US.

It actually grows on you and is a new freedom. Even in liberal CA, if you were outside doing stuff past 10 or 11 folks would act as if they all were born in Irvine.

Even the noise ordinances are adjusted in summer to accomodate early blowers, mowers, etc.

Here, if you want to go out and wash your car at 3am during the may-october period - no one even blinks.

Now that's freedom.
