It seems clear that the "military-industrial complex" coupled with unfettered capitalism seeks and profits from conflict. The phony missile defense expenses coming on top of multi-trillion dollar wars are both optional, yet untold wealth is being spent upon them. And who profits? Follow the money.

Peace is the enemy of prosperity in this economy, and won't be allowed to happen. In peacetime surpluses were built up which proved to be too attractive to the complex. Imagine if the surplus had been used to fund Social Security and health care for the boomers coming online. Wouldn't have satisfied Ratheon in the least.

One can wonder what the world would look like if the health-care folks were in charge the way the arms makers are.
