I agree with you totally Nick (but aren't you livng in Australia?)
I have had my share of "health care" and "insurance" these past few years.
Injured on the job several years ago and suffering the debilitating consequences while going untreated by Workman's Comp has left me in the poorhouse. The insurance company and it's lawyers did everything in it's power NOT to treat me, while I was unable to work. And one thing lead to another. My lawyer unfortunately was in bed with the insurance company.
Throughout all this I lost my health insurance.
A recent trip to the ER was outrageously costly and has pushed me past the limit.
I also work for a local doctor (a specialist) who keeps my hours just below the benefit level.
He parks his BMW convertible in the garage every day at the office to hide his wealth and often cancels appointments at 4 pm, so he can drive to his beach home on an island in the Outer Banks. I get to hear his comments about some of the Medicaid people he treats, and some of it is despicable.
Class wars are the new reality.
I have lived both sides of the fence. Americans are driven further into debt by illnesses or disease while millions of Mexican workers get free healthcare. The health insurance companies are to blame for this great divide, along with the banks, credit card companies and marketing whizzes. America, the great consumer with all it's hawks feeding off the loopholes of finance. The next scheme to vacuum up profits with no recourse for their liability.
I see the serpent eating it's tail here. Possibly a complete collapse of our monetary system is coming.
