I would argue that in order to report the news- which you agree is their responsibility- they have to do a thorough job...

Who?
What?
Where?
When?
Why?
How?

My complaint is when they gloss over or ignore the 'How' because its that spooky science they are being lazy and are doing the public a disservice.
