Case in point
Tide or Cheer.
The classic false choice. You're only voting for packaging. But when you only offer two choices people become adamant and polarized.
"Tide is the best! It gets whites whitest!"
"I wouldn't use Tide if you gave it to me for free."
"Cheer is just a poor imitation of tide. They use too much scent and your clothes smell funny after they are washed."
"Tide is made by slaves in Mexico. Cheer is my choice."
"Cheer is made by slaves in China. Tide is still better."
Obama and McCain are fundamentally the same product - packaged Grade C politicians who will lie, shift positions and betray constituencies with a shrug when opportune.
