I've seen Death at close quarters...
It isn't "nice" or "neat" or "efficient", but trust me, the people who are involved in death are not worried about "death", or any "afterlife". They/We are busy trying to stay alive, somehow, by some trick or scheme or twist. Sure; they/we know that Death is coming, with their/our name on it. Mostly they/we were so confused and sick we had trouble getting a fair sight on the goal, but we still knew where we did NOT want to end up...
I have been educated by my own experiences. There are FAR more important things than "fear", when Death approaches...
We fight, as did Dylan Thomas, "against the dying of the light..."Wikipaedia...
