Giordano Bruno was burned by the church because he was convinced there were many other worlds like Earth.
Now, when evoking Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, we can only do it through faith because we just don't know and can't prove it one way or another. We're using the faith argument too much and not enough critical thinking when that issue arises.

Searching for the Other, for the Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, isn't it more a search for Ourselves in that we still refuse our total insignificance and our Improbability ?
Finding them will bring a sigh of relief to us, because it will mean "WE" are special, "WE" are superior to any other creature (around us) and "WE" are like those we found (who are perhaps more advanced) and we would never be an "accident" in evolution.....
But what are we anyway? I don't know.
