re: a serious question

"It's kind of a trick question. The philosophical underpinnings that make a Democrat choose that party in the first place are the sorts of things I don't want to see in government. Why would I vote for one at all if I had any other choice? I don't pick them by speaking style, or whether or not they "look good," so philosophy and policies are my primary focus."

But do you really think Dems in general have a "philosophical underpinning". Or to put it on the other shoe, do think that most Reps have in general a "philosophical underpinning".

Or more specifically do you think McCain has a general "philosophical underpinning"?

And if you were to think that a fair amount of Reps don't have a have "philosophical underpinning", couldn't also be possible that some number of Dems also don't?

Anyways, I don't know which Dem I would like as president. But I think Jon Stewart would near the top of the list. And I think Oprah would be better than Stewart.
But I think picking at random from phone book of Dems would probably be the best pick.

The problem with most Dem pols is they are so out of touch with the real world.
