I expected and I am pleased by that answer of yours.
I think we in Canada assume that racism,
for the most part, has to do with verbal insults
and violence.
But I beg to differ.
Laurie? How many white Canadians [especially white,
middleclass or upperclass persons] have a native friend
or two? eh????
[I have more than that]
Personally, I observe white Canadians walking by
natives on the streets or in malls, etc., every day.
The 'body language' of those white Canadians
says it all: they usually try to shun, ignore or subtly
show off a hypocritical/superficial politeness to any native
they cross paths or interact with.
Too many times a coy, silent reaction speaks volumes
about a person.
