I know Russia and China have been bitter enemies for decades now
(they came awful close to nuclear blows in 1969 and I am sure other
times that we don't officially know about), but then again we once
hated Germany and Japan and now they are our allies, granted with
very different governments than what existed up to 1945.
I can see those two countries and India teaming up at the very
least to counter the United States and Western Europe. I believe
they would be doing this no matter who is in office as it would be
mutually beneficial to them to create some kind of Asian Coallition.
They may not ever become BFFs, but it is not hard to imagine the
those three "helping" each other over anywhere else on Earth.
Eight years of bad international politics by the Bush Regime is a good
excuse to sudden get defensive and even offensive towards the rest of
the world, and the right's constant crowing about Obama's presumed
inexperience might make enough believers in the Kremlin and Beijing
to think this is a good time for some kind of offensive/dominating
action. See Kennedy and Kruschev circa October of 1962 in case
you think that a Russian power might take advantage of a presumed
"weak" US President couldn't happen.
The US has focused way too much on the Middle East and the
terrorists it has created, mainly because of that Texas Tea under
their borders. Russia and China have clearly taken advantage of
our distraction with Al Qaeda and friends since 2001 and if we don't
at least try to balance the situation, a new Cold War will indeed
arise, one with even more players than before and some of whom
might not be so diplomatically careful about using nuclear force.
For good or bad, it is a new world and the US better wake up to it fast.
