I did say that, and meant it before the discussion got to be pretty deep and technical. The Chinese invasion was imperialistic in the sense it was a land grab but not an illegal land grab in a technical sense.
It's like going over to your neighbors and taking back your own car which they have been using. As contrasted with heading across town and taking a car which isn't yours.
