There are too many of us.
No, I am not saying let's have a major genocide project, I am simply
pointing out that groups of more than 100 become too hard to manage
as a realistic democracy such as we were able to when people lived in
small tribes.
So what do we do, besides whittle the human race down to 100 people?
Which wouldn't matter anyway 'cause the numbers would just pop right
back up again over time.
Can we live in small, semi-isolated groups everywhere? I mean, more
than what we do now? How does that become regulated without taking
away freedom, and then how do we keep other groups from pestering
each other?
What about anarchy, as certain people (usually the fairly well off white
kids) want? Something tells me the ones who wanted "total" freedom
will be begging for food, shelter, and protection in no time once they
are surrounded by everybody doing whatever the heck they want.
I think it just comes down to we haven't progressed enough on the
evolution scale to handle all this technology and knowledge. We might
make it through to a better level - for example, we haven't had a nuclear
war yet, which I consider to be no small miracle - but I don't know if
we will make it in time before resources and space become too limited
and then all heck really breaks loose.
