re: Star Trek vs. Star Wars
Being a 'kid' growing up in the late sixties, I longed for PURE science but it was hard to find escept by NASA's standards. If you wanted to go beyond, nothing beat Star Trek at the times and FOR the times.
Gene Roddenberry was a genious for coming up with such a thing and Lucy was even more so to keep that series going or else, I'd never have found out about it (because by the time I discovered it, it was already a re-run series).
Bottom line, Star Trek satisfied the hunger for those that may already have the hands-on in aereospace and Astronomy.
It really is a difficult thing to explain to people.
