I have an extremely fatalistic approach to understanding the young adult. Too preachy you lose 'em...too complacent..you lose them in a different way. One has to *really* plug into their children from the word get go..and then it is still by the seat of our pants we raise them.
Raising children is more about what we as parents learn about *ourselves* along the way. The lessons my children have taught me are invaluable...and I continue to learn. Talk about painful!..Oy!!
