150 years, or two human lifetimes, will deplete all the energy resources that allow us to maintain our current equilibrium. After oil AND uranium are depleted, there will probably be a dramatic change in culture. It will be a "punctuation" in our evolution. Leading up to this evolutionary earthquake we will probably also develop the technology to allow individuals to manipulate reproductive capabilities. Within a couple decades people will probably be able to buy & sell gene sequences over the net, perform gene splicing, and in-vitro fertilization using compact affordable devices in their own homes, or at a neighborhood clinic. Later, gene synthesis will become possible. And just as the earthquake arrives.....
.... biology will become generic hardware and all technology will be encoded and subsumed within it. I predict it. It WILL happen. Of all the possible futures, this is the one that is most likely to occur.
It's already started.
