There's no denying the problem exists, I just don't think it can be solved without intruding into our personal liberties, and the kind of payment we get from our boss is something we should be able to negotiate without government interference. If we start denying executives their pay, will rock stars and athletes be next?
One thing you mentioned is interesting, the fact that as a stockholder you had no say in the running of the company. We all know this happens, but it is usually glossed over by the apologists for the system.
I'm sorry for your losses, but no one is really safe. I'm totally invested in my bank accounts, but galloping inflation or a failure of FDIC could bankrupt me overnight.
