There are generalizations which hold true. And stereotypes are common because there are elements of accuracy in them. After all, there IS a difference between liberals and conservatives.
The right-wingers demonstrate very limited compassion for others. Social programs are too expensive. Universal health insurance is too expensive, for instance. Yet a war upon an innocent country isn't too expensive, and wreaks havoc upon the citizens. There is an inability to put one in the place of another person.
Right-wingers tend to be more punitive than liberals as well as less compassionate. People engaged in pre-marital sex should suffer the punishment of bearing children. The embargoes of Cuba and Iraq caused all manner of suffering for the citizens of those countries and even strengthened the dictatorial leaderships. Doesn't matter, the mantras of "Get Castro" and "Get Saddam" rang loud. Screw the innocent citizens. Ideology before reality, expect others to change because they are told to, without negotiating. North Korea, Iran are examples.
Corporate profits before the environment and/or people. That's a given.
In the US the right-wing generally professes Christianity and yet ignores the teachings of Christ. The left-wing more generally follow the teachings without necessarily claiming to be Christian.
These are merely expressions of the traits described in the paper.
