The entire history of this thread, from my innocuous response to Carl's opener, "It doesn't look good", to the final closing "re: olive branch?", is a rapidly escalating chronicle of your hijacking the proceedings to proselytize your religion. What alerted your antiliberal radar and launched your pre-emptive strike of Tory vengeance? The phrase "the contradictions of the market"? Actually, I had in mind the classic Marxist jargon "contradictions of Capitalism", but I really didn't want to start a political brawl so I deliberately misquoted it to avoid offending anyone since my post was not, in my opinion, political. Unless, of course, you consider pointing out a cruel irony calls attention to your politics.
But that didn't stop you, boyo, nothing is non-political that can be remotely interpreted as an attack on your faith. So in spite of several more of my lame attempts to steer the subject in another direction, you continued your self-righteous vendetta against all things liberal. Even my throwaway quip about Hoover continuing on to additional terms provoked a flurry of Conservative scholarship and its supporting rationalizations. Do I have to remind you that's alternative history? Hoover wasn't President through the thirties, it is pointless to speculate what he might or might have not done and I certainly couldn't have been blaming him for what he did or didn't do after he left office. I didn't even blame him for what he did while he was in office. That is the kind of question that cannot be answered, it isn't even a proper question, but I see you were able to come up with a response to it that would save the phenomenon.
So don't patronize me with your pleadings of the diligent scholar trying to brush aside the fog of ignorance, or the resistance of ruthless entrenched interests to the truths you've so painfully revealed. You simply can't stand that anyone who doesn't share in your superstitions is talking, and that someone out there might be listening to them instead of you. So you continue patrolling these boards, turning the lights on and off hoping to find liberal cockroaches scurrying about so you can pounce on them. And of course, when there aren't any, you're not above dropping a little steaming heap of provocation of your own to get things started.
Personally, I don't care what you believe, and I expect the same from you. Post what you want, just leave me out of it. And I intend to do the same.
