It is a maneuver truly worthy of Rove...or should I say...Rahm.

But, the Dems are usually too busy fighting amongst themselves to unite effectively against the Reps, they lack the party discipline and hierarchical instincts of the more authoritarian GOP.

It may appear now that the 11th Commandment, loyalty-at-all-costs,
march-in-lockstep Neocon playbook is preventing the diversity of internal opinion any party which pretends to represent the entire nation must have in order to sense the national mood and properly serve it.

But in the long run, it won't make any difference. The Iran-Contra hearings demonstrated the Reagan White House did indeed commit treason by deliberately circumventing direct constitutional proscriptions about fighting a private war while he was simultaneously offering aid and comfort and weapons to Iranian terrorists. And all we got was Ollie North in a pretty uniform making patriotic speeches.

Maybe this is what Obama realizes as a practical politician with specific domestic goals.
