What is the question?

Prices go up, drug companies get richer, and sick people can't afford their overpriced meds. And we know they're overpriced because you can buy them illegally overseas at much lower prices, where they are still obviously profitable to the drug companies. We have only their word for it that they have no choice but to sell them at inflated prices. They are lying.

Obviously, the system is not working, at least not for us. It's working great for the companies. There is no free competitive market in drugs because people are told by their doctors they must have them and the prescription system ensures they can only be bought through channels. Prices will go up until profits are maximized as they will in any industry without true competition. And every mechanism to reduce prices (generics, foreign sales, competitive bulk bidding) is bitterly resisted by the industry marketers and lobbyists.

Don't worry, the drug companies are not going to go sulk in Galt's Gulch. Even at reasonable prices, there's still too much money to be made and they will find a way to adjust.
