Down in the bone, where real economic beliefs live, liberals think that almost everything would be cheap and abundant if only we eliminated profit from the equation. If this were true, you would think that the greatest pharmaceutical, industrial, and medical innovations would be coming from collectivist price-controlled societies, and that the standards of living there would be higher than anywhere else.
