I'll post this on Flame. The following link I think shows vividly the difference in styles between what a largely Fundamentalist Christian nation would look like and a largely secular society.
I think in a nutshell it shows the true division between a conservative mindset and a liberal one. Although all conservatives are not fundamentalist in their nature, we seem to rarely see any of them finding fault with this fire and brimstone style of Christian pushiness. Liberals on the other hand are all over the board on their views on religion and have selected outrage even against their own. I love watching the Christian liberals get really defensive when some non-believer starts in with a rant against religion on DKOS.
The atheist billboards on the other hand, although I know they rankle some people, are pretty benign. The only one that could be seen as a real attack on religion are the quotations from "Imagine" and even that doesn't come out and say anything really threatening, simply to imagine a world without religion. The others are more a message to closeted atheists that they're not alone.
Yet, listening to guys like Gingrich, you'd think the atheists and pagans were arming themselves for the battle to end all religion and starving the lions for the upcoming feast.
Here's a look at style. You decide which side is rational.
