You're right. Lots of Jesus' existed during that time frame, probably as many as there are today out doing landscaping. The historical record shows it was a very common name.
The big question becomes, was the Jesus as portrayed in basically 4 books of the Bible (3 seem to be copies of the first) and not referred to at all by true historians of that time (discounting some things by guys like Josephus that are likely forgeries), one of those men? The more one looks at the evidence, the greater the likelihood becomes that the mortal Jesus that saved everyone from their sins never walked the Earth, that he was indeed an allegory of past campfire stories, distortions of Hebrew and pagan lore.
I just haven't gotten around to it but I found a wonderful site that goes into incredible detail spelling out why it's absurd to assume that just because so many humans believe there was some physical son of God, he ever breathed a breath. I'm convinced now more than ever that just about everyone I know and am related too were victims of a scam perpetrated during the first and second centuries A.D.
I'll get to that post soon but it feels like one that could go on for awhile and I want to ensure I have sufficient time in my life to follow it.
