If we back away from collectivism next year it will just be a holding action. The problem with America now is structural and cultural. Over the past hundred years we've devolved a pretty decent constitutional Federal system into the same crappy top-down power pyramid that has chewed up most of mankind throughout history.
Every four years we sweat blood as we wait to see who's going to get elected - not chief executive, but goddam Emperor of the West. And all the princes and dukes in the Senate and House.
Our culture is attuned to this now. We need rulers. We need someone to be the All-Father, caring for his children. Without the Emperor, how would we live? Look at the horror here at the notion of libertarian ideas, or anything other than an all-powerful central government.
I, who think nothing is more important than individual liberty, am labeled a fascist, while real fascism is cheered in the streets and sung about in our schools.
When the Man on the White Horse comes someday, we'll be lined up waiting for him. Before we drop to our knees.
