I never signed on as moderator and don't want the role. Robert gave me editor privileges while setting up the place and I've had other obligations that keep me from devoting any sizable time to the Zone right now.
This big melodrama about moderators is farcical. I have no desire to edit others words. I just hope the new Zone opens up with a bang and attracts some more people. The numbers here are dropping and I know why.
The Zone is becoming a senior center folks. Discussions about cats, chit-chat around the bingo table and TB and ER arguing in the corner about socialized medicine while applying Ben-Gay. Ten years ago their was a bit more zip and zest. I don't mean to be a downer here, but the dynamics here aren't compelling anymore. I LOVE to spew words around...everyone here knows that by now. So it's not for lack of desire to spiel like it's 1999 all over again.
Now don't get me wrong - many folks LIKE senior centers...especially if they are seniors. But the .Net better have a fountain of youth on the homepage, because we need some younger blood with new ideas and the impudence of youth to go with them if we are to halt the attrition and grow back to at least 50 or 60 members again.
I think Robert has the right idea. I think the MOTM boards, Sci-Fi boards and creative boards are the yellow brick road to increased participation.
This will either be the biggest comeback in history or the biggest disaster since the burning of the Hindenberg.

Oh...almost forgot...my calling card...
;-)
Because, according to some, I'm such a mean, evil-spirited guy.
Sorry to disappoint.
