Traditional African societies used to be tribal, based primarily on kinship relations. What they've learned about corruption they've learned from European colonialists, capitalist ones, I might add.
Bribery and corruption comes from cash economies, economies set up on a European model, economies where money becomes the primary medium of social intercourse. In short, it has nothing to do with your voodoo political superstitions, or alleged lack of them. It has to do with people needing money, wanting money, and doing whatever it takes to get their hands on it, until anything you do to get is acceptable--you know, like criminal gangs or unregulated businesses; both of which flourish in Africa as well as other places.
Yeah, there was no such thing as political and economic corruption in African civilization prior to the Europeans coming. No tyrannies, no dynasties, no merchant empires, no trade, no slavery, no obsession with wealth or power.
If you take a closer look at most of the ruling classes in African nations, it's all about tribalism.
But you apparently have a worldview you're comfortable with, and there's not a lot of point in disturbing it.
