"But in 1969 we also thought Reverend Jesse Jackson got it right by denouncing

I thought it was Ralph Abernathy leading the protests. Jackson was still an obscure activist at that time, is there any documentation that he got national attention for protesting? I was in Chicago at the time so his activities were fairly well covered in the local papers, and I don't personally recall him doing that.
