We live in a society where a substantial minority, well-organized and financed, has been able to control politicians who will do anything to get their vote. Until the majority organizes itself with the same fervor the situation will not change. We live in a democracy, but democracies are NOT ruled by majorities. A large enough minority can seize control of the government, and they will continue to subvert the will of the majority until that majority can generate the same passion and outrage. A complacent and disinterested majority is not sufficient to overcome a passionate and well organized and funded minority.
The easiest and fastest way to solve the gun problem is to stop voting for Republicans, because that is the party that benefits most by the gun lobby and does the most to cater to them. And to do that, more and more anti-gun people have to be willing to politick and organize and spend and agitate to make that happen. If that occurs, then even Republicans will vote for gun control.
