2) The fear of an ignorant and superstitious mass of urban peasantry faced with the imminent loss of their alleged racial superiority and trivial economic prosperity.
No one anticipated how these two pathologies would have fed off each other and spiraled out of control in so short a time.
Know this: the horror of these school killings is not in the numbers; mass shootings contribute to only a tiny percentage of the firearm deaths due to madness, crime, accidents and suicide. The true horror is that there are more guns in this country than there are people. And the vast majority of them are held by one subculture.
