But the one thing we could do that would be most effective is to get rid of as many Republican politicians as possible.
You see, Rob, this isn't a Dem or Rep issue. Its just that the GOP has gotten in bed with the gun lobby and they are ready to do anything it takes to keep those yahoos happy. Its not because of Liberal or Conservative ideology, its because one party has sold its soul in order to get the peckerhead vote. It could just have easily been the Democrats that caved in to these troglodytes, but it wasn't. It was the GOP.
Traditional Conservative issues like national defense, tax policy, regulation of private industry, small government, family values, and so on, had nothing to do with it. Its just that too many people in this country have convinced themselves that blacks, furriners, college perfessers, Hollywood producers or drug-crazed hippies are out to steal their wimmen, and they are dying to have an excuse to shoot one.
And the Republican Party, regardless of their ideological position on other issues, has chosen to pander to these mental defectives, and in fact, is doing everything it can to encourage them. The two are feeding off each other like a snake swallowing its tail.
Once that unholy alliance is broken, it will be OK to vote Republican if you are inclined to do so. But until then, they need to go, because the killing of school kids will continue.
